RESOLUTION
I stand for inclusion, fairness, and support for ALL Students including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer students.
By signing this petition, I stand with LGBTQ+ students, family, and community through the implementation of the LGBTQ+ Bill of Rights across all campuses.
SUPPORT
I am dedicating my support to the LGBTQ+ Student Bill of Rights to create LGBTQ+ positive, affirming, and protective campuses and other spaces. LGBTQ+ students deserve support from staff who understand and are informed about California Ed Code and provide comprehensive sexual health education.
A recent report from researchers at Chapman University about LGBT youth in Orange County based on data from the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) suggests that LGBTQ+ youth are experiencing staggering disparities in education and health outcomes including attendance, safety, bullying, alcohol and drug use, and mental health, as well as protective factors such as youth engagement and connection to school.
ITS TIME
Its time to create safe, inclusive, and discrimination-free schools for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer students so they can reach their full potential. The adoption of the LGBTQ+ Student Bill of Rights is crucial in increasing school contentedness, safety and school climate so ALL students, including LGBTQ+ students, have the opportunity to express their identities.
I urge local school district staff, board members, state congressional representatives to support the passage of the LGBTQ+ Bill of Rights Resolution in their respective school districts so that ALL students, including our LGBTQ+ students, can reach their full potential!
